R.I.P. MICHAEL JACKSON - I am both saddened and shocked to hear of the sudden death of this great singer at such a young age - Only 50! I know he's had his problems of late but earlier in his career he really was great. There aren't many albums better than "Off the wall". But who I wonder could have predicted back then when he had it all going on that this is how his life would have turned out - Very, very sad!

I will be putting together a Dazlingsoul Jackson's Mixed Special in the next few days and will probably be putting it out next month instead of the Brit-Funk (vol.3) Special.

MOTOWN MAGIC - To help celebrate Mowtown Record's 50th birthday I've done a new (2 hour) Mixed Special which you can find HERE. It's a selection of some of my favourites from what must be the most important record label of all time!

As you'd expect it's loaded with classics but also a few less obvious tracks too. I'd love to know what you think!

PLAYLISTS - Thank you to all the people who contacted me regarding the playlists. It seems you do prefer a playlist with the new shows - So here it is.

A NEW SHOW EVERY WEEK - I am going to try to be more organized for the New Year, so there will be a new show/mix every saturday from now on - My Dazlingsoul show every two weeks and in between a new mix from Professor Eddy one week and a Dazlingsoul Mixed Special the other. (Well that's the plan anyway!)

THE DAZLINGSOUL BEST OF 2008 - Top 20 tracks and top 10 albums is now on line in the Recommendations section. I would love to hear what you think of my choices.

So how would you rate 2008 musically? Let me know.

I think it's been pretty good - Although not reaching the incredible highs of 2005, we have had some great music - Particularly on the Soul tip. The Dance stuff has been a little more difficult to find and as for the good Jazz........ Maybe I'm just not looking hard enough!

What do you think, 7 out of 10 for the year?

And finally, it's wonderful to have Jazz FM back - On line at least - With some great shows.

MERRY CHRISTMAS - I would like to take this opportunity to wish everybody who has visited the site and downloaded my shows over the last ten months a merry Christmas . I do hope you've enjoyed the music as much as me!

I will be publishing the Dazlingsoul top 20 tracks and top 10 albums of the year at the very end of December and the last show of the year will be a "Best of 2008 special".

I am going to be doing a few guest radio spots on some of the various Soul Unsigned shows. The first one will be on MRS 90.5 Stockholm (and on- line too) at 18:00 CET (17:00 U.K. time) on 14th Nov. 2008 - Why not check it out.

R.I.P. LEVI STUBBS - I was saddened to hear today of the death of the lead singer with the great Four Tops. Levi Stubbs really was one of the all time great Soul voices and one of my favourite singers too. He will be sadly missed.

I will be playing some Four Tops on my next show.

R.I.P. ISAAC HAYES - I was very sad to hear that this legendary artist passed away yesterday, a few days before his 66th birthday. As well as being one of the all time greats of Soul music he was also one of my favorites too.

His music will live on.

A SAD DAY FOR RADIO - With the end of Peter Young's great show on Smooth Radio (or Jazz FM as most people still remember it. This is of cause the same station who also let Gilles Peterson, Steve Hobbs, Chris Phillips, Jez Nelson, Robbie Vincent, Greg Edwards & Mike Chadwick all go to be replaced with bland presenters and nondescript music - No wonder nobody listens anymore!) I wonder are there any more real music presenters (and great music shows) left on terrestrial (or digital for that mater) radio. PY is set to join Solar Radio.

On-line is now the place to hear great music!

TWO MONTHS IN - and going strong. (And they said it would never last!)

And I must confess that it's doing much better than I imagined it would. Thank you to everybody who has logged on and downloaded one of my shows and a special thanks to those people who have been kind enough to contact me.

MUSICALY - I think it's been a pretty good year so far. What do you think? (It's funny how things change each year though, I remember last year there were loads of good Soulful-House 12" about but not many this year yet. And 2006 seemed to be the year of the Japanese album) The Reel People and Sunburst Band albums have been far and away the high points for me. And I must confess I can't get "Put a lyric in it" by The Sunburst band and "We will never end" by Vladimir Cetkar out of my head at the moment. If only there was some good new REAL Soul out there. The last really great Soul album I bought was Marcell & The Truth in 2006. (Although the Victor Brooks & Ebony Alleyne CD's were pretty good too.) Most of the Nu and Organic-Soul I hear is so dull (Tracks and albums start off O. K. and then go nowhere). Maybe times are changing, maybe the good new Soul is now being made in the U. K. by producers like Joey Negro and the guys behind Reel People and not the American Soul singers? maybe Soulful-Dance is the new REAL SOUL.
